Social - Our People and Communities

At North American Helium we’re proud of what we have achieved in our operations and the support we have provided to the communities where we live and work. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to providing opportunities for training, learning and capacity building, while maintaining our high standards for safety and fostering a great workplace culture.

Engaging with the communities where we work has been a priority since before we broke ground on our first well. We strive to improve the quality of life in those communities in which we operate and believe in giving back. And while providing economic benefit is important, being connected and being a good neighbour is equally meaningful to us.

Occupational Health & Safety

Our goal is simple – no accidents.

Safety is a fundamental component of North American Helium’s operations and culture.  We provide training and work collaboratively with our employees and our contractors to make certain everyone is aware of their safety obligations and rights. We comply with all applicable health and safety regulations and requirements, and continually monitor our performance. As part of our commitment, a member of our senior management team is in the field for a safety meeting at the start of every operation.

Employee Wellbeing & Safety

People are our greatest asset. We believe our people are a competitive strength and differentiate NAH from our peers. We are proud of how skilled, competent, and professional our employees are and feel confident in saying this reflects the culture we aspire to cultivate. We strive to provide a work environment—whether in the field or in our corporate offices where employees feel engaged and valued. With the growth of our business in 2021, we increased our employee base by 47% and increased employment opportunities in the communities where we operate.

Community Engagement

We are committed to building and maintaining a strong community presence and being a good neighbour. We do this through actively engaging with the communities in which we operate before we begin operations. We want to ensure our neighbors are welcome at, and informed about, our operations. We host Open House events for community, industry, and government. Furthermore, we are committed to ongoing communications and transparency to build strong and resilient relationships. This is what community engagement means to us.

Community Investment

Engaging with the communities where we work has been a priority since before we broke ground on our first well. We strive to improve the quality of life in those communities in which we operate and believe in giving back. And while providing economic benefit is important, being connected and being a good neighbour is equally meaningful to us. We are proud to say that since 2017 we have invested ~$78,000 in local initiatives in Saskatchewan with a focus on youth and sports and supporting sustainable community development (e.g. addressing poverty and social needs). Most of this was done before the Company generated positive cashflow.

Furthermore, we want to engage our employees, and provide opportunities for them to support causes that they find meaningful, either indirectly through volunteer hours or through direct support from NAH.

Rights of Indigenous Peoples

We recognize the importance of building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, and are committed to ensuring all consultation opportunities and requirements are met, increasingly so as we grow our operations.
